The 3rd Year Acting Company at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona (IAB) are working on a new production: The Seagull by Anton Chekov, translated by Michael Frayn and directed by Drew Mulligan. This production will be premiering at the IAB on the 24th October 2018.
The play
The Seagull by Anton Chekov is a slice-of-life drama set in the Russian countryside at the end of the 19th century. The cast of characters is dissatisfied with their lives. Some desire love. Some desire success. Some desire artistic genius. No one, however, ever seems to attain happiness. This translation of The Seagull was first performed at the Palace Theatre, Watford on 7 November 1986. It was subsequently produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Swan Theatre, Statford-on-Avon, on 31 October 1990.
Sorin
PYOTR NIKOLAYEVICH SORIN
Sebastian Atienza will playing the part of Sorin, the land-owner of the estate where the action of the play takes place.
Brother of Arkadina and Konstantin’s uncle, Sorin has worked for the for the Russian government office all his life, now he is retired and lives in his country farm. He is a patient listener, a confidant, and a compassionate admirer of both his nephew and sister's talents. Health, family, regret and conformism are a few of the themes this character will be exploring throughout the story of this play.
